Yes, it is possible. I do know it can be done for sure. I would not count on time being constant in anything dealing with beauracracy. However, I am married to a Lao, have a house, and a source of employment. I do not know of a single Indian living in Lao personally so it may not be as easy. Do you speak Lao or Thai? The Department of Foreign Affairs can be a pain and picky. I know people that have been trying to get residentcy for over two years. You will or should have connections somewhere for this. With connections comes the need for administration fees. Being a foriegner does not help you lower expenses. Vientiane is in many ways like living in Bangkok. There are many hassels and the learning curve is sharp and long for some. I suggest you spend some time there and get to know the layout of the land first. If there are Indians there find them and see what they have to say. Hope this helps some. For us non Lao and even for them, adjusting to the system is at best and adventure in patience, research, trial and error and a lot of alchohol both as gifts and consumption.
