I'll be on dependent's visa.

- I don't have a specialised background in SN education, however my child is special needs (6 yrs old, Cerebral Palsy) and I have hands-on experience educating him, parental involvement in his class as well as at therapies.
- I also administer a Special Needs FaceBook online forum in Singapore for children with CP.
- I work closely with Special Needs teachers in supporting the administrative needs for the SN pupils in my previous school.

If you have special skills (unavailable or difficult to find in Indonesia) you can get work in Indonesia.
If you have not - you can't do it legally.

That sounds quite harsh, but there's no point in flowering up the situation.
To work (legally) as an English teacher, you must be Indonesian, or from a place seen as a native speaking country.
That list is very short and doesn't include Singapore.

However, your list of qualifications is long, so you might very well find work as a consultant or something of that nature.
The difficult parts are finding an employer willing pay all the costs, then jump through all the hoops to get all the expensive documents.

Strong advice - don't accept any job that doesn't provide all the correct documentation.
Sitting in a cell whilst the powers that be decide on simple deportation, or a fine and deportation, or a fine, gaol, then deportation doesn't sound like a party worth going to.

Thanks for your reply. The reason why I asked if you have any SN background is because I'm setting up a Special Needs Centre here in Jakarta with 2 other local partners. I have also just registered our school name in Singapore. Our centre is due to open in June.
I was wondering if there would be any way we could possibly work together since you have mentioned that you have had experience with SN in the past.

Hi Bobby, thats wonderful news! I was googling SN centres in Jakarta and could only come up with 1 or 2 names at last check. I understand from my son's therapists in KK Hospital and pte clinics that there is a shortage of good SN therapists and centres in Jakarta which results in many indonesians flying in to Singapore for therapy.  Yes, I'm open to discuss further, why not? I'll only be in Jakarta next week, fyi.

On a side note - do you have any contacts for any swim therapists specialising in working with SN children that you know of in Jakarta? My son's private swim therapist here in Singapore is very good but unfortunately he's not able to help us with any links in Jakarta as he does not know of any. Keep in touch!

NSU is very reputable university in asia .im pretty sure you wont find it hard to get a job here. i'd suggest you to get a job in english course as a teacher for example TBI or EF , as people interested in english is huge and i heard they paid them well

A salary likely to be offered in a language mill is commonly far less than those offered in a school.
However, some of the mills seem to be able to get away with hiring native speakers from non native countries.
I'm unsure quite how that works.

Try SPH, an international school. I think they have a branch in Kemang area.

Hi Bobby, sorry for the long silence. I had an unfortunate bad fall and am recuperating from it. I'm already in Jkt but will not likely be too mobile anytime soon. Anyway, do you have a Sgp no or are you in Sgp now? You may want to google Adida Shahab or add her on Facebook. She does lots of therapy work for SN children and their parents via Craniosacral therapy and I highly recommend her work and healing.
