Question on spouse sponsored visa

MikenLenis

Hello my name is Mike.  My wife (citizen of Indonesia) and I are currently living in Texas.  We got married here in Texas 2 years ago following the approval of her K-1 visa.  We did so within the 90 day requirement.  Adjustment to status filed...not yet 😯.  We have decided to move to Indonesia.  i am retired military and meet the $1500 per month minumum to live in Indonesia.  My wife does not work.  We have a joint account of course.  So, my question is this.  Can we apply for a spouse sponsored visa  (for me) with my wife and I currently living together here in Texas through the Indonesian Consulate in Houston, Texas?  Would it be better to apply for a social visa for me with a family member of hers already living in Jakarta, Indonesia and once we arrive then pursue the spouse sponsored visa?  What do you all think?  I am not coming back to the u.s.a. and i already know about the 10 year bar, etc. for not completing AOS.  We dont care about that.  Thank you in advance for all responses. ☺

It should be easy.
Married for 2 years and a provable income should mean it's pretty much a rubber stamp and you have a KITAS (one year) visa.

Pack every document you can think of (With a few photocopies of everything), and wander to the consulate.
If you have things like criminal record background checks, throw them in as well.
You probably won't get asked for them but extras never hurt.

Thank you Fred.

Indonesia requires a wide open mind and a steep learning curve but I loved the place immediately.
Where are you intending to live?

Jakarta is a hot mess but has much to offer an intrepid soul with an enquiring mind - You'll see a lot HERE.
I've never spent any real time in Bandung so I can't offer much outside what's available on the internet.
I suspect your wife will be able to acclimatise you as far as most things are concerned, but a few useful titbits can be found HERE.

Wow...lots of good stuff to research!  I have been to Indonesia twice for three weeks each time.  Looking forward to living there...humidity reminds me of military days training and working in Phitsanulok, Thailand.  i will need to drink lots and lots of bottled water!  😀

You'll get used to it quickly enough. :)

Hi everyone,

I am Canadian retired senior citizen, in Canada now. 14 years ago, I have married an Indonesian female,  after 7 years got separated for some reasons! Now I am interested to rejoin her in Indonesia. I am aware that lots of companies providing immigration services there, but due to theirs own reason not complying for whatever they are promissing!? So I am not interested to go ahead through these gimmick businessess (of course not all of them). So, anyone can help and guide/advise me what steps should I take legally enable to rejoin my wife in Indonesia. , thanks.
