Hello. My name is Neil. I am planning to come to Georgia in March 2022 and stay for at least a year. I am trying to find out if I need to have health insurance before I get there. I was looking at Vienna Insurance Group, but it shifts to Georgian language when I try to see if I can buy a policy. Any information on entry requirements and/or health insurance would be appreciated. Thank You.

Hi Neil, there is a regulation that says health insurance is required to enter Georgia but I have never heard of it being enforced with people from visa-free countries. I believe it's there as a backup in case they ever want to deny someone entry, say from India or other 'undesirable' countries, although they don't seem to have a problem with just turning them away - even when they have a valid visa. I got health insurance locally, after I arrived, from a company called Ardi and it only costs 55 lari a month. I can't say whether covid has, or could change this situation. Cheers, David
