Leaving Ethiopia after some good years here teaching public health at one of the national universities. It's been great but I'm ready for a new adventure and I always wanted to live in China. So, I'm coming to Suzhou. In preparation for my move, I need to know about the expense of living there. Someone please let me know as I plan the adventure.

Your housing will be the biggest cost, You can find a nice place for 4 or 5k ( RMB ) per month, Keep in mind if you look at a home and they want 5k, you can most likely get it for 4,500 or less. There are a lot of homes here for rent and many more building everyday, Your food cost can be from 20 (RMB) to 200 (RMB) per day depending on your diet, If you stick to mainly locall food then it is very cheap, Western food and fast food gets expensive quickly, Getting around is fairly cheap by bus or the good o'l fasion of walking. It is a great area and the air is better then in Shanghai or Beijing. Lots of Parks and low cost things to do.
