Going to Mondulkiri Province in January

mpmilestogo

Hi all. Has anyone gone to Mondulkiri province? We have Khmer family that went for a week and simply loved it. It is the most sparsely populated province I have read. It also appears to have wonderful natural views, waterfalls. Its quite a haul from Siem Reap. On the bus line that services it, it takes 11 hours to go.

My Khmer partner has been taking me to places I have not been in Cambodia. Before we went to Koh Kong which was simply lovely. Her family is from Preah Vihear province so we go there every so often. Mondulkiri sounds like more of an adventure :-).  She has been to Mondulkiri but way back in 2005 so she wants to visit again as well.

We would probably go for 5 days and tour around the country. I've found a few guest houses and hotels here and there. Since I'm not familiar with the province and she does not remember much about going, any ideas about things to do would be appreciated.

Mondulkiri has one of the largest indigenous populations in the country and has many remote locations, from what I understand.  This is the road less traveled and should be a great opportunity!

Yes, well worth visiting and getting to know the indigenous minorities.Best way to do that is to engage a local guide. Take a jacket, it will be cooler there especially evenings.
