I live in Chingola, so these prices reflect where I live, not necessarily Lusaka prices:
> accommodation prices ranging from K1,000 for a simple 2 bedroom home, to K10,000 for a deluxe executive home (monthly rentals). Average home in a decent part of town around K2,500 - K3,000.
> public transportation fares (tube, bus etc.) Around K2.5 - K3.5, by bus or taxi for one stretch (around 1-5km)
> food prices (your monthly budget) for a family of 5, eating a mainly western diet, we spend about K3,500 per month (without eating out).
> health prices (for those who need medical insurance) - don't know!
> education prices (if you need to pay) good school - K7,500 per term per child
> energy prices (oil, electricity) fuel is K6.5 - K7.5 per litre; electricity around K600 / month
> common bills (Internet, television, telephone, mobile phone) Internet K290 / month; TV (basic GOTV package) K60 / month (or DSTV) between K200 and K600 / month, depending on package; mobile phone approx K500 / month in 'talk time' (quite a lot of calls).
> price for a good menu in a traditional restaurant Around K300 - K500 for a family of 5 for dinner
> price for a coffee or a drink ranging from K5 to K15 (depending on location and type of drink).
> price for cinema tickets - don't know!
