How is life in Casablanca for young expats, specially young women ?
Hello, I might look for a job in Casablanca and I wanted to know how is life for young women there. I mean when you are used to live in european/american countries, is it not too difficult to get used ? I know there is a night life there but I was wondering if it was easy to meet other expats in their tweenties/thirties ? As I have always been used to have friends from all over the world, I was wondering if there is really a multicultural community in Casablanca ? I would love to meet other people who already live there. Thanks.
Hi Selmita,
Welcome to ½ûÂþÌìÌÃ!
I hope you get some nice contacts on the site.
Bonjour Selmita,
Life is absolutely safe but I suggest you to stay with some known friend which would take some time to evaluate and know the person you are meeting can be your good friend or not. A Moroccan female friend normally takes plenty of time to stay after evening. Do not go alone in the late evening. Night life is fabulous, particularly in Casablanca, Marakech.. even here El Jadida (due to new resort Mazagan).
Selmita i have been morocco 2 time but in casa i feel some diffrent types of person i hope u will understand but in other city like meknes and fes and rabaat good be carefull dear
Hi Selmita,
Im a female expatriate living here in Casablanca for almost 2 months, and I guess I am able to partly answer you. First of all, you have plenty of choice about the night life, alcohol is served in many bars and clubs. Concerning late night and considering the fact that you re a woman it is really recommended to go out with friends tho, never alone unless you drive/take a taxi. Then, you just need to adapt yourself, never smoke in the streets, don't pay attention to guys trying to flirt with you, go out with friends, be careful for pickpockets and learn how to drive here...it can seem crazy, but life here can be fun, if you can adapt. Concerning the multicultural community Im sure you can find one here. How...that's the answer Im still looking for! Anyway I wish you good luck and Im available if you have any other questions.

Hi Selmita,
I have just moved to Morocco and find it is a beautiful and friendly country, however some different rules do apply. for example it is hard to find a cheap hotel if you are an un-maried couple. It is not very acceptable to hold hands or to show public displays of affection. Other than that clubs are just the same as everywhere you might find it odd or a little uncomfortable to go to a coffee shop where there are only men, but you get used to it. The same is true for having get togethers at someones house without any alcohol. I have found it useful to use sites like this one and equivalents (like couchsurfing) to meet people in a more social manner.
Hopefully this is helpful,
Christie
Hi Christie;
I suppose by this time u r getting used to ur new place here in Casa with no much difficulties.
a commet about Holding hands in public: totaly wrong u can do it wherever if u like, wut 's not acceptable contrariwise is wearing appealing, sexy, very tight and short clothes, also for girls and women, smoking in public it's seen bad manner in our society, neverthless u can be free in bars, pubs
Cheers
Jalila
maybe final advise selmita, do not wear jewelery when you are walking in the streets of Casablanca or even in other cities. don't talk on your cellphone while walking in public. taking casablanca bus can be dangerous if you re alone. Moroccan people are warm, avoid talking about negativities from media about islam. avoid talking about politics. if you like nature, go faraway from casablanca, go south. I m born in Morocco but I left it 18 years ago and still love to visit it. good luck

hi and welcome to morroco , i am anew new comer also and i find what moon walker said true also riadjal you can find great night life all the freedom you seek but in some limits of public manor ( hold hands or even kiss in the streets but dont over do it... dont over dress sexy clothing and so on)the most important issue you should be worried about is a job and an income.... it is hard to find a job if you do not know french even if you did the salaries are low
hey , im really surprised of the comments about casablanca , things arent like that , theres bad n good people everywhere so i just can tell you to enjoy ur stay and live the experience theres more things worth to be seen and lived

Thank you,

normaley the work job will be in a call center because it is well and good paid but if you looking for job in admistiration or something else you should speak frensh arabic and the boss must signe document to gouvernement means u will have only CDD contract not !!!!!CDIÂ
i think if you have good english and you can teach in some private school or working in call center the salery can reach more the 10 000 dh and if you got 10 000 dh you can live like a real king here in morocco
Dear Sunny Skin,
Being a Lebanese makes me eligible for french i can understand and read it but i have been out of practice for a long time now.
Thank you for your support,I am an administrator,A leader and a business planner my long experience earned cannot end behind a call center job it will be an under-qualified job and think i will be miss placed. Thus my performances and will diminish with time so will my experience and that job.
I look towards an international company that can use my skills and experience and where i could polish and learn new things from them as well.and believe me with rent, food expenses, schools, communication, transportation and medical costs 10,000 is not enough for me and my family.
thank you again and appreciate your concern and look towards your friendship and support
Cheers,
work in morocco it is not like working EUR USA or qatar dubai in morocco there local skills so many young morocan people wait to work in big companies so people from other countries can not find a real offer can satisfy them espacialley people who have family wife childreenÂ
however if you want to invest in morocco to create you own company it will be easy to earn much money because the gouvernement encourage the invetsement i think you should look for a partner
morocco it is not a heaven for worker but a huge paradise for bosses so the best idee is to be a boss
I totally agree, but to start a business it will take me time to closely learn and monitor the market and the socioeconomic and the consumers behavior and the safest way to do it is work under an international or major companies umbrella, then I can consider a sound and sure investment.do you agree!
the moroccan market is so so easy focus on good quality good price make studies of the market i can give you idea i have been in china there is one brand very famous in china of electronique material TCL make a search about i can assure you that there is no TCL in morocco
you can be the exclusif importator
I have been going at least twice a year for the last 13 years , I know TCL factory and I have visited them many times and yes there is NO TCL brand here If you have a good investor I can arrange the sourcing and the business plan and marketing plan and the business et up arrangements..... I even have another Chinese brand that is as good as TCL and advanced in china with Toshiba and SHARP and samsung technology .I also can can arrange any kind of product sourcing from China and Korea.
Hello guys,
If you have any questions, please start a new topic on the Casablanca forum
This is an old thread (2011) and your posts are off topic here.
Thank you.
Cjer943. Are you still in Casa? I might be moving there soon. Would appreciate the help if you can.
I best believe U cud find it much easier cuz as a matter of fact, everyone have a different way to be bless by GOD. 'm a Liberian and a professional NURSE with a 10 years experienced but unfortunate for me, Morocco doesn't have bilateral relationship with my country so I finds life a lil bit TOUGH. With call centers, they mostly accept Senegalese.
