Seaside Restaurants

CourtinUSVI

Good Morning!

I am looking for a beautiful, seaside restaurant that serves great food.  This can be inside a hotel (as long as they allow non-hotel guests to dine there) or any other place in Mauritius (doesn't matter where).

If you know of some other restaurant that has a lovely view (not seaside), I'd like to hear about it, too.

Please bombard me with your opinions ASAP!!!

Thanks,

Hi try that hotel. It offers diner to non guest of hotel.

Hope you find what u searching.

Agree with kevinson - we have had dinner at The Bay several times, and it has been absolutely wonderful! Lovely atmosphere, attentive staff, and stellar food. By far one of the best restaurants in the island that we have tried :)

Chamarel has a gorgeous view and lovely food, but the restaurant is unfortunately only open for lunch... but it's definitely worth the long drive up on the hillside.

Hi,

My suggestions:

The Bay Hotel in Tamarin - open to non residents, does lovely lunches and evening meals, tables overlooking the sea.

The Beach House Restaurant in Grand Baie again tables overlooking the sea - does yummy meals with music and great atmosphere.

I also think you will find most hotel restaurants are open to non residents but you will have to book first.

Hope this has helped :)

Hi Courtney!
Don't know if you have found your answer and spotted that unique place?
As of my own experience here in the North, there is a new place just opened : La Canisse (situated on the Royal Road when leaving Grand Baie centre towards Pointe aux Canonniers.
Have a great evening.

Hi Courtney!
Just realised that reply posted few days ago, didnÂ’t come out in its integrality. DonÂ’t know if itÂ’s the result of wrong manipulation? Anyway, repeat with pleasure my message again:

As of my own experience here in the North, there is a new place opened (+/- 6 months ago): Les Canisses, situated on the Royal Road when leaving Grand Baie centre towards Pointe aux Canonniers, close to Beach House mentioned above by Rosiewestie (Hi Rosie!).
Restaurant gives on a little sandy beach with a stunning view of the bay of Grand Baie. ItÂ’s owned and managed by a French national. All staffs are Mauritians. Had been there for lunch lately. Quality/price was correct. As of the service, they were still looking for their marks. Should you be there in the evening, do not miss the aperitif whilst admiring the sunset!

Rosie’s Beach house too is a good address. Casual and friendly English speaking clientele in majority. More of a “on the grill” cuisine, bar and music hang out. Weekends are generally packed. Same location and view as the Canisses.

Last but not least, you have the long lasting Pescatore Gourmet restaurant situated between Mon Choisi and Trou aux Biches. This place was already operational when I was in Mauritius for the first time in 1991! Sign of success and continuity?!  Prices are naturally higher. But the ambience and service are also on a higher scale. Situated on an elevated platform with an unobstructed view of the ocean and fishing boats moored to a pontoon in front and lightened by heavy projectors in the evening. Quite a scene too. Place for a romantic “tête à tête” dinner. My last visit there was for a lunch and dinner two years ago before returning back to Europe (what a mistake? DidnÂ’t take me long to come back!) and both were excellent. Certainly worth inquiring of their present service delivery !

Hope this will be hopeful?

Bon appétit, if not already done?!

Hi, do not hesitate to recommend these restaurants in the Mauritius Business Directory.;)

Hi All,

Thanks a ton for all of your replies.  They were very, very helpful.  We ended up at the Beach House in the north and LOVED it!  I really wish there were more restaurants like this in Mauritius.  Alexandre, your suggestions were so thorough and especially helpful  THANKS!  My mom is visiting from Texas next week, so I will try to take her to some of these other places.  I have had several people tell me about the Bay Hotel, so will def check that out as well.

Have a great day,
