Both english & french are required in mauritius. It depends wher u work...

Most people prefer to speak French and write English, but it depends on the company.

I have the same question too...

English is fine. French can help, but everyone speaks English here

We have been here a year now and we both only speak English - although my husband is taking French lessons and he is learning very well.

Everyone in the Mauritian Company my husband works for speaks English.

I am learning Creole - very slowly I might add

I do mainly volunteer work, Mauritian Wildlife, PAWS and teaching local kids to speak English.

Husband works in Financial Services/Wealth management/Private Banking.

Hey Rosie,

Where is he taking the French lessons?

Both are required.

But it really depends in the company where you are working.

In some offices, people speak french with their customers but any written document is done in english
