Land Purchase under the PDS Scheme

karibi

We have found a small plot of land which we would like to purchase under the PDS scheme. I have been told that I need to either return to the island in around 3 months time to sign the 'deed of transfer' or appoint a local representative and give them Power of Attorney to act on my behalf. My question is has anybody appointed a local attorney to act for them that they would recommend?

One of the restrictions of purchasing a PDS plot is that you are unable to sell the plot unless construction has been completed.  This is of concern in that if my personal circumstances change and I don't complete the build it appears that I am trapped with the plot, but at the same time unable to sell it. Has anybody had to deal with such a situation, or is it a clause that the EDB don't enforce. Any insights would be much appreciated. Thanks.
