Also remember that Kindle books are like Ipods, materials purchased are copyright sensitive (if you buy a USA book, it will vanish when you next go online in UK (or visa versa). A lot of stuff vanished from our e-purchases when we last arrived back in Trip.
I would suggest the Sony E-Reader, Superb, Accepts every format out there, not wifi or 3G so no worries about it connecting to the internet and policing your purchases.
The wife has one and swears buy it.
Me, I prefer a real book.

For online purchases in Libya, Aramex provide a very good service. For 45 LYD (One-time charge) you'll be granted a virtual address in USA or UK, still linked to your address here in Libya (Or, by request, you get to collect your purchases from Aramex premises). The charges are as follows (Not very accurate I'm afraid):

Less than 1 kg: 20 LYD
Above 1 kg: 10 LYD for every extra 0.500 kg

Really? Were the missing books still in your amazon account, or gone from that too?

I got a lot of books while in the US, I went online on the Kindle in Turkey and they were fine. Wonder if it's because I have the International version?

I haven't been online on Kindle in Libya, it has not been able to connect to my home wireless network. I have been 'buying' lots more free books since we got back to tripoli, though haven't downloaded them since I already got so many I haven't bothered to try connecting my cable to the computer to sideload them yet.

I ♥ my Kindle.

I have been doing some googling, and did not find anywhere that Amazon will delete content out of the US.
