Just typed along message but seems to have disappeared. Shorter version now.
Food for your family,I would say at least 150lyd per week. I find food costs have gone up.
Abaya cost from 40-400 Lydia
I would get a car, they keep their value well.small mini bus is a quarter dinar but not really suitable for families.taxi, short ride maybe 4lyd.
You really need a job for a visa. If u stick with the job, trust me you will have very little time on your hands.
Safety I would say is an issue. Constantly incidents, witnessed 2. Think it will take along time personally. A Libyan girl at work today told me how she crashed slightly into a taxi- he pulled a gun on her!round the corner 2days ago, drive by shooting. We could argue these things happen in the us everyday but still I would say not that safe. You do your business and go home.
Personally,I led a more Islamic lifestyle in the Uk-very hard when everything is in Libyan arabic.interpretation, discussion is limited after a point of basic Arabic. Women tend to stick to themselves and their own family, not much mingling. More or less nothing to do. I also like just to take kids to the park but even here that's hard. You will drive an hour in traffic to get to the only decent park which is full of pushy kids that don't know how to take turns!
The positives,You here the adhan which is lovely. Family lifestyle can be good, basic,no rat race. Weathers nice.people are friendly enough, quite often intrigued by a non Libyan Muslim.
Honestly though,I would choose another country. Many more Muslim countries out there that are not recovering from a war.things are pretty hard going here, especially after revolution.not nice hearing constant gunfire, although its getting better.
