I am planning on bringing in a 20ft personal effects container from the UK in around April this year.

Well  i work in a refinery in Purchasing Dept and we have a custom clearance div and people are well connected on the port so they will definitely assist.

I was quoted GBP 800 to bring over the same bike from the UK. That's seafreight, in a proper bike crate.

It's the duties payable at this end that scare me - I've heard up to 60% of the book price of the bike.

You have been here long enough to know what the driving is like, I was going to ask if you were nuts wanting to ride a bike here, but after meeting you - no need

Its all about select riding times  - Fridays during prayers etc - no cars on the roads! Lots of vacant roads out there + the re-opening of the track.

SM the 60% is on luxury vehicles ie Porsches etc. There is no duty if the items are coming in from select African/Middle Eastern countries. (of course you have to get them to those countires first).

Theiman - I was informed that sports bikes came under the same stupid duty bracket as Fezzers and Porkers, kinda crazy eh?

If so then I'll leave the '09 750 in Canada and load up the 2000 CBR 929 Fireblade , 60% of $2,000 isnt much to pay to releive boredom
