The last time I came to Libya from UK (in 2010) it was only possible to apply for a visa in-person (due to need for fingerprints) on Mondays, Tuesdays and Wednesdays and collect on Wednesdays and Thursdays.
Is it still the same? Or have they updated the system?
The web site is at: but it is out of date. It asks for a Letter from employer, but this seems to be not needed now. See later.
The doors of the visa section open at 09:30 so you can go in and wait in the waiting room to be processed.
They open the window to accept applications a little later ... about 10:00.
You will need:
* Your passport. * Application form (downloadable from the web site). * 2 passport size photos. * A copy of the form giving your visa number. * The fee in cash.
I also had a "letter of invitation" but it was handed back to me and I was told that it wasn't needed.
There is not now a requirement to give finger prints.
I was told that I could collect my visa the next day between 15:00 and 16:00.
So there's the up-to-date process as of 04 07 2012.
