Hello Miss, Welcome to kenya, Here so many foreigners in kenya, so for food and all no problem. If you want to learn language, you can download some e books for Swahili It's easy. but you can only learn language when you come here and meet people. Hope you will have good time. Welcome to nairobi.

Hi, Well you have left plenty of time to prepare!  Concerning papers to work; education is highly valued in Kenya and degree or masters level is often asked for.  It is difficult to advise about what sector to go into, as the job market is very competitive,  With Healthcare though, you may well need additional professional registration in Kenya and this can be awkward to get.  May be worth looking at IT or telecommunications, for example.

Concerning learning Swahili; there are lots of resources on the internet.  Personally, I would recommend Rosetta Stone - I am hopeless at learning languages and had struggled with books.  This software really helped.  It is expensive, but for me, it worked.

welcome to Kenya if you want to stand a better chance of getting a job try and get your self into voluntary or N.G.O before you depart your country otherwise most the Kenyan community are well educated and it will prove difficult to find a job, good luck.

Good point Peter.  This can also be a difficult field to break into - even in the UK.  Have never experienced such a rigorous interview process as when I applied as a volunteer with Skillshare International.  However you won't know until you try.  Look on the following site to get an idea of what is available:
