Where to live for a few months or year?

Sheysul

Hi! I'm Canadian, and I have a great paying job working basically from home, as long as I have my laptop and internet connection. I have done some travelling, and am now looking for something a bit more drastic while I'm still young (28) and unattached. Well, I have a cat, and yes he will be coming with me. I don't mind dealing with the extra hassle in customs.

I want to live somewhere in Africa for 2-12 months, but am unsure of just where.

My requirements:
-Internet connection for work
-Relatively safe
-Beautiful, inspiring scenery (I'm also an artist)
-Fairly cheap to live as I would like to save up money while working (under $1500 US for monthly living expenses: rent + food + bills etc).

Would anyone be able to offer me some insight? Thanks in advance! :)

hi sheysul the best place for you to visit is Ghana the star of  africa ..you can think of the best tourist attraction site, cheap 3G fast wifi connection, very affordable rent in the city  since your currency values much here, and you have no need to worry about high bills since you wont be using much electronic stuff and as single as you are you wont be paying much for other utilities as well.It also cheap eating at the restaurants here and if you enjoy cooking and want to save money it better you buy food stuffs in the market and prepare yourself....  To let you know Ghana is a very safe place to live and very much peaceful..I can be your guide if you really interested in coming here

hi, Kenya is the best you can ever live in. very welcoming people, social, affordable rates and the exchange rate  of a dollar to Kenyan shilling is very favorable! thus with your  budget you'll be very pleased!sweet climate especially at the coast with the warm sandy beech and much more.. try here and you will never  regret it

Come to East Africa either Uganda or Tanzania.Tanzania is peaceful and you can get a house or apartment fully furnished at $500 and the remaining $1000 you can survive and still save up some more.Uganda is also not very expensive and you can follow up the forum.

Sub-saharan Africa has been one of the best place in Africa to visit، stay and live. But you have to consider the climatic condition which is why most expats I've met in Abuja، Nigeria said they made the decision to come over، a place where I currently reside. I dont have to talk so much about Nigeria bcos I havent spend time too in other African country but all I can say is that Nigeria have always gotten the nod from other African counterpart in all ramification. I want to save myself of the single story thing but all I know is that، almost all the expats I met via the Abuja Hash House Harriers (search on facebook to get to meet any of them) had confirmed to me that Nigeria has been one of the best place they have lived in Africa.
Highs about Nigeria:
Cheap & affordble living cost
Hospitable، warm & friendly environment
Eco-friendly and economically viable
Good and friendly climate
Verse and diverse community of diff races
Continental & local dishes you can eat
Security، Good basic amenities
Social live، fun & entertainment
Freedom to excel in choice of career، businesses & interest
All you desire in a developing nation

Lows:
Might get fast tracked on if not sharp، clever & smart
Local language barriers (communication barrier)
Might not quickly find choice of places of interest ie rearaurants، shopping malls، parks، worship place، market & locals
Unexpected challenges since you are coming a new place with a total diff lifestyle، orientation، socio-cultural background، ethics & values، political & religious views.
All be it، Nigeria is the most liberal، friendly، economically viable، understanding، tolerable & adventorous nation in Africa you shall never regret you lived.
Thank you.
