Potential dissertation help

2banksl

My name is Laura Banks and I am a Chinese Studies student at the University of Wales Trinity St. David, Lampeter, UK. My dissertation is focused on interracial relationships and marriages between Chinese and non-Chinese; I am interested in many aspects of these relationships — what each partner brings to it, potential legal issues caused by countries, and the advantages for children or anything that people think may be interesting to others. I am not wanting to have an angle or anything with this survey I'm just looking for honest peoples experiences that I can write about.

As part of the research for my dissertation, I would like to invite anyone who is in Chinese/non-Chinese relationship or marriage to complete a survey. This survey is currently available in English and Chinese (simplified and traditional) and should only take 30 minutes of your time. There is no requirement that you answer every question, so feel free to only answer those questions you feel comfortable with. All information is kept confidential. I would greatly appreciate your time and interest — your efforts will help in better understanding Chinese/non-Chinese interracial relationships.

If you are willing to help me out please email me at bankslaura@hotmail.co.uk and I will send you a survey.
Thank you
Laura

These things keep popping up.
Perhaps you should ask yourself who will spend 30 to answer (usually) badly thought out questions to help someone who can't do the research themselves.
If you want to do this properly, join UK Chinese forums and ask specific questions(google is easy to use), go to various Chinatowns and start talking to people.

Of course, you'll actually have to work, and I'm aware that's an abhorrence for many students, but you'll actually get a clue if you can be bothered to do it properly.

Are you Chinese or just studying Chinese and Chinese people?

I'm a white English chap but I've had a couple of Chinese girlfriends in times gone by.
Getting a handle on the various cultures isn't hard but you need to do a lot more than some questions on an eform.
You eat the food, live close to the people and see what makes them tick.
You'll learn a lot more if you do it right.

PS. No such thing as Chinese culture. Lots of different cultures.
If you're any good at research, you'll learn about things that most don't even know exist.
An example.
Want to set up a karaoke in Manchester Chinatown?
Do you know who to call so you don't get trouble?
Do you know the business deal between the snakeheads and the triads?

Takes a while but you'll get it.

Hello Laura.

Welcome to ½ûÂþÌìÌÃ! :)

Concerning your dissertation, you could post an advert in the Looking for section (Testimonies) in the Classifieds section selecting at least a destination. It could help.

Thank you,

That seems a little harsh, but there do seem to be a lot of people around here looking for very specific answers that only a small fraction of the people here can answer.

It's my bluff Yorkshire attitude to things.
Yorkshire people, except William Hague, aren't known for winning diplomacy contests.
We tend to call a spade, 'a spade', without considering much else.

I'm also doing a survey.  If you're a 7 foot tall albino glass blower, I need to ask you some questions about what type of outdoor shower curtains you like.
