Buying a bicycle in Sofia by kaminoge
Any tips on where is a good place to buy a bicycle? Either used or new. I want something decent enough to be comfortable riding around town (and possibly to work which is about 15k) but not anything flashy. So far I've just found one bike shop ...
Thanks very much for this information. Do you think that at the same place, it might be possible to sell the bike again, when finished with it ( eg moving out again) Read More

I came over to buy a house somewhere in Bg. Found my area and possibly the house. Slight problem that due to its mountain position it may not be possible to have internet. It has a sat dish. Anyone have good coverage in the mountains with satellite ...
Sorry I must have been misinformed. I didn't bother to check my facts - the last RHD car I owned was ( I think) an Austin 1100/1300 In any case, I strongly recommend driving the right car for the right "rule of road" , according to the country you ... Read More

If you want quality wood furniture I would suggest finding a local carpenter. Obviously you need to get references or see his work but I am sure it could work out cheaper Otherwise there's an Ikea in Sofia :) Read More

I can see that driving RHD here could be a little more challenging. Funnily BG is the only European country where you can legally register a RHD drive car - so I'm told. So you can buy surplus from the UK second hand market very cheaply. Pot holes ... Read More

After a dozen years of searching over four continents we seem, at last, to have identified a place to live. It's not as if we knew nothing about it nor had we missed it on our travels, we've even looked at property there. Now we know, In the same ...
I am in and around Sofia - for work - so probably won't be able to escape the cold. I had only been here twice before ( spring and summer) but I had heard of BGs famously extreme temperatures. As one member put it "proper summers and winters not the ... Read More

Worldlywanderer : If your criteria is no snow and temperature in double digits you have not done your research very well! I have just arrived in BG and to be honest I am dreading the harsh winters and the longest skiing season in Europe. Have you ... Read More

What's the fuss about driving. Bulgaria is an easy country to drive in and the drivers are unusually polite. Problems are the bad road surfaces and its often unnerving to say "radar" warning signs but with no clear indication of the speed limit. But ... Read More

Hi all; would like to hear from people who speak english currently living in Galicia, particularly any australians based there. Cheers.
Not retired, I have a small business but - as you will have noticed - the economy is getting glummer, so I am thinking of moving on. But I have to admit, it is one of the best places to live and my wife and children were all born here so it is going ... Read More
