Pollution - How bad is it? by MOVINGMOVING
Worst polluted capital in the world I've read. On a day to day basis, what does that mean? Are you coughing everyday, every minute? Does it sting your sinuses / eyes / throat? I realize everyone has a different tolerance but would like to hear ...

Actually, it was not harsh. What is harsh is the fact, according to a Mongolian news report, (which I think might be quick to talk down the problem) that in 2011, 1 in 3 babies were born with problems due to the pollution. That is harsh. It's ... Read More

I can't imagine a place with worse air. It is unavoidable. This city has a putrid stench all year round. It is the worst smell. The small stuff first. With all the corruption and rich people getting richer, where most of the people live, there ... Read More

It seems if you have a driver's license in your home country, if you come to Mongolia you can drive here. You need your company, organisation, school or whatever to apply for you and you just give a few papers and they will give you a Mongolian ... Read More

Hello, i´m a guy from Sweden who is moving to Mongolia in about a year from now. I´m going to live as a self-sufficient shepeard on the plains and i am at the moment saving for an initial capital to make this dream a reality. I am daily learning ...

I can tell you 2 things I learned from staying in North Eastern Dornod last week. In that area, a 3 year old horse will cost 350,000-400,000 and a 3 year old bull will cost about 130,000. I think the price of the cow is amazing!! Read More

Hi everybody, It would be very useful to talk about the cost of living in Mongolia. Don't forget to mention where in Mongolia you are living. How much does it cost to live in Mongolia? > accommodation prices > public transportation fares (tube, ...

Well, I had forgotten how cheap some of the things were during the Autumn that I arrived. The prices are ridiculous now. I went shopping today, but prices have been the same for a while Potato = 800-1000 Cabbage = 1000 Carrot = ... Read More

Expat hangouts by sam.jelliman
Hi everyone. I am 22 from England and have been in ulaanbaatar for about a week. I was wondering where most expats hang out (bars/pubs/cafe's) as I have only met 2 people so far I can have a conversation with. I would really appreciate some info on ...

Well Mr Jellisam, how is the expat finding going? If you want to go and eat some Mongolian food at Mongolian places at sensible Mongolian prices, because it is always fun, I think we can do this. I don't really know anyone in UB, but I suppose I ... Read More

Public transportation in Mongolia by Armand
Hi all, What do you think about the means of transportation in Mongolia ? Is the network of means of transportation well developed? What modes of transport are available? Do you use them? How much is a fare? Are they relatively ...

I think the network in UB is pretty good. It is safe and easy to use. The electric busses are slower and rougher, so they cost 200T. However, you'll spend 80% of the time stuck in traffic, it would almost be faster to walk anywhere in the city. Read More
