Accompanying spouse working for a foreign company

Upsi

Hi,

I'm moving to Denmark from India with my husband soon. He is employed by a Danish company and paid by a Danish company, and he will pay taxes in Denmark, so he is sorted.

However, I was allowed by my Indian employer to keep my job remotely from home office in Denmark. It works time zone-wise as most of the teams I work with are based in the US.

So my question is if I need to pay taxes in Denmark considering the following:

- Husband has work permit and residence in Denmark paying of course taxes to DK

- I have resident permits along with work permits in Denmark as an accompanying spouse

- I am employed by an Indian company, get my salaries in Indian bank account, pay my taxes in India. Besides, my work doesn’t involve any Danish business. So I won’t draw any income in Denmark

- I will just be a Danish resident and use home office to work for an Indian employer

We are still unaware if there are any legal angle to this special situation. If anyone here has clarity on this topic, please share.

Thanks,

Upi

Yes, your taxation should happen in Denmark.. as i remember, danish tax is based on your residency, not based on your job location. Also, India and Denmark has dual taxation agreement so you only have to pay taxes in denmark.
