Book your flights to Langkawi and accommodation as soon as possible, as it could be busy and prices may be high. (Its summer holiday time.)

You could always try and use Couchsurfing. I know it is a very social network and people do team up and travel together and also have some social events, such as meals, together.

You know what, i did go alone and did have fun. That was in 2000, i went to Langkawi. I hiked to Seven Wells and made new friends, taught myself to drive on the right and nearly had accidents every five minutes, got extremely drunk on the beach at sunset and was the only person on the entire beach, got totally free dinners from every restaurant downtown, got lost and probably nearly died trying to walk from the jetty to my northside hotel. Every moment was some sort of adventure and having a group along would not have been fun at all. If I could do it a second time I would go with ONE other person because its a very romantic place.
