Dear all,

We will be moving to Egypt soon and would like to know some basic details from the expats living over there.

I will be posted with one of the UN agencies in Cairo, and will probably bring my family over.
I have 2 kids 8 & 10 years of age, and my spouse also will join. I also think of bringing my mom聽 over, as she is also our dependent.
I & my family will get the formal visa (expat visa & dependent visa), but for mom, I assume it would be tourist visa. In that case, how long it would be, and is there any ways that I could convert the same as dependent visa (she is anyways my dependent)

Kindly advice me on the cost of living in Cairo?
Rental and other prices? How much it will cost for a family of 5 to live there in a furnished appt?

Is there any recommendation for International schools for foreign students? Preferably Indian or sub continent kids of young age?

Do we have churches in cairo?

Can we rent car on a monthly basis? Is it advisable over buying one?

Is it mandatory to insure the family? I will have insurance from office, but not sure about the family though.

Yes you can have all these requests in Egypt but not sure of the changing of your mom visa to dependant visa but I can connect you to someone who can help you with that aspect and take you through all the paper works needed. Thanks
